Hello. I'm farmer
Anne and this is the story of four wonderful musicians. We were having
a colder than usual winter here at the farm. Everyone's spirit's were
a little low, so I decided to put on a show here in the barn. I lit
a fire and threw lots of warm rugs on the floor, and all of the animals
came. There were horses and cows and pigs and emus and chickens and
wallabies. Even the farm mice decided to grace us with their presence,
and for a treat, I hired a band to come and entertain us. However,
it being a particularly chilly night, the band's van refused to start.
Thoughtfully they phoned and said they wouldn't be able to make it.
This disappointed the animals greatly, and when we ran out of dry
wood for the fire, there was talk of calling the show off altogether.
Then, to everyone's astonishment, there was a sound, and this sound
filled the barn and all of us in it with a lovely warm feeling. And
it was a warmth like we had never known. We all turned to where the
sound was coming from, and there, in the middle of the barn stood
Hazel the sheep, singing. Hazel hardly ever talked, let alone sang
in front of large crowds, and yet here she was singing a beautiful
song called, "Sleep sheep sleep" that went a little something like
this,
"Sleep sheep sleep
Rest your wool
Then eat the grass
Till you are full."
Isn't that touching? Anyway, no sooner had Hazel finished the first
verse, than Scotty the dog put his paw on Hazel's shoulder and joined
in with the chorus.
"Sleepy sheep are happy sheep
and happy sheep are healthy sheep."
The next minute, Mimi the cat cut loose with a magnificent meow solo.
Meeeeooooooweeeee! which left us all gasping for more, and who could
provide more than Danny Dawn-buster, the rooster with the moostest.
That night, Danny crowed the best version of "Little Red Chook" any
of us had ever heard. The rest of course is history. The Four Musicians
are now touring with other great animal bands like, "Ewe Two" and
"Collective Foal." But that night, in this barn, time stood still
for four unlikely stars to be born. Time does that you know.
